#43 August 28, 2021Travel by air Vancouver, Washington to Huntsville, Alabama

We awoke at 3:30 am in Vancouver. Finished packing our carry-ons: 2 backpacks, my purse and a daypack. Our 4am scheduled Uber arrived early, and we had an easy drive to PDX Airport in Portland.  We jumped the long security line by having TSA precheck.  We had an easy 4.5 hour Delta flight to Atlanta,  a layover and a short hop to Huntsville.  On Friday night we ate dinner with Jeremy and Andrea.  We had our last hugs with Quinn and family, and left our few food items with them. At our airbnb, we were able to have a bowl of cereal and oatmeal with berries before leaving.  In our daypack we carried our last 3 slices of cheese and some sourdough bread, pistachios and granola bars. We also had our last banana tossed in for later. We had plenty of snacks and drinks supplied by Delta. Once we got to Atlanta we went to a quiet lunch at a nice restaurant. When we left Huntsville, 2 weeks ago,  our sister in law Phoebe drove us from her and Glenn's house to the airport. They also let us park our truck and car at their place. So now on our return she is kindly coming to get us and she's invited us to dinner too! It's so sweet that she is taking extra care of us!

Getting up at 5:30-6am and taking care of our house sit cockatiels and cats was easier today! Lol. Doing it with two people is a lot easier than trying to do it with one. We got through the animal feedings and had breakfast before 8am today. Around 9am Jeremy and Andrea and Quinn called from Brazil. I always get a big smile with my kids on the phone so I appreciate the attention and time together! Darrell and I had a few animal chores that we attended to. I made two days of fresh food for the birds. Darrell vacuumed the bird areas. We also had to remove the old paper in 4 cages so that it is now fresh for another couple of days. After lunch we went driving around to see some of the local sites. There is a National Wildlife preserve where we took a short walk to a beach view. Jeremy called and talked to us with Quinn. Quinn was talkative and happy that it’s his birthday. He had been to his piano lesson and had a stack of birthday presents on the dining table next to him. They also had plans to go outside to play and to go to a cafe for a piece of celebration cake. Next week is the planned birthday party with friends. We got the report from Andrea and Jeremy about Quinn loving his birthday gifts. She posted pictures of him playing with his new magnetic squares and other shapes.   Sunday. 7. Worship today at Capshaw church in Harvest. One more Sunday after this and then a few days to our trip to England. I met an immigrant at church named Vickie. I got a few bits of information from her. About a year ago, he chose this transatlantic one. Mainly we had discussed doing this one or an Alaskan cruise. He picked this one for two-three main reasons: 1) it’s 2 weeks long with a lot of down time to relax and disconnect from work. 2) this cruise usually is about 50% guest capacity 3) per day price is always less expensive on repositioning cruises.
