On the Phone with Jeremy and Grandson Quinn (5 1/2)
Saturday. 28. The luxury of sleeping in today until 6:30am! Lol. Morning routines of an exercise routine, Darrell’s day to make pancakes which will go for about 3 mornings, coffee and reading time after our big breakfast. We go over before noon to see Mom. Darrell shows her some ideas for sight-impaired technology items that she might be interested in. We come back 17 miles to our place for lunch and a rest. Darrell also did some research about his Mom’s iphone to see what is in the settings that could improve her ability to communicate with her phone and with her contacts. We return to Cyndy’s house before dinner. I took a gluten-free brownie mix and some walnuts over with me to bake. Cyndy’s daughter Kylie eats gluten-free, and appreciates when we include her in our food plans! The brownie mix from Aldi’s was less than $3, and it turned out delicious. I added in toasted walnuts which we all like. Cyndy came home from shopping and brought carry-out pizza for dinner. The four of us sat around her dinner table, ate dinner and visited. Later in the evening they are expecting our nephew Andrew to arrive and stay for a few days. He lives in Kentucky and works remotely as a programmer, but every quarter he has to come to Plano and go into the ‘office’ and check in with his boss. He comes once for two quarter check-in’s. He tags the last of a quarter and the beginning of a quarter to reduce his trips to his office check-in. We’ll get to see him through the coming week and even overlap his April 4th birthday. Andrew is right between our oldest two sons in age. Our oldest son Eric was born in 1985, Andrew in 1986 and our second son Wes was born in 1987. I have great memories of our young children growing up as cousins through the years. Sunday. 29. Morning worship at small Denton church with Mom and Cyndy. We get to see Andrew our nephew. We also get to see our friends from our 10-15 years of coming here to this church. We go out for lunch afterwards. The preacher’s wife, Linda, has a friend from work visiting for the morning. She has lived in the US for 30 years, but is from Ghana. I get to spend time visiting her through lunch. I’ve only been to Kenya once with Darrell on a preaching trip. It was enough of a connection to have some common understanding. Suzanne goes back ‘home’ every year! She’s very friendly and I’m glad we were able to visit together.

| Beautiful Country Drive from Corinth to Flower Mound, Texas |
Monday. 30. We went out to tour our house sit in Flower Mound and get familiar with our responsibilities and the property and Lainey the cat. We met with the owners and discussed our agreement and they gave us a lot of nice leeway for staying in their house. The house is in a nice subdivision. They are at the end of a cul-de-sac with a view of a large lake down a hill with trees. There is a trail next to the lake that we hope to explore at some point during our stay. They are extremely helpful and completely share their house and anything in the house. They have the cat and the plant watering schedule typed up for us. They are off to France for 2 weeks. The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
Tuesday. 31. We got up early as usual! Lol. Did our morning routines and checked out. Darrell got stuff loaded while I finished up the details in our airbnb. We got over to his Mom’s and took her to her twice a year doctor appointment. It all went well. We went back to her house and stayed for a little while. On our way over to our house sit, we stopped and had lunch. We arrived about 1pm as planned, and finished up last minute questions while the guys called their Uber and left for the airport. We fed the cat on schedule around 4pm and then went back to Cyndy’s house, a half hour drive for us from here. We prepared dinner and stayed until about 6:30 pm when we came back to our place. We stopped and got a few groceries on our way back. We decided to sleep in the small bedroom with the best view of the lake. We set up our luggage in the next room on the twin beds. There are also two bathrooms upstairs that we each claimed for ourselves. I’m set! They got out their instapot for us and showed us through their extensively stocked kitchen with spices and teas and appliances, even a boiling water tap! We love that! Sleeping in the top bedroom, we opened a window and we both enjoyed the fresh air at about 70 degrees!

| Cyndy Baking Her Homemade Chicken Pot Pie for Our Dinner |
Wednesday. 1. Darrell made pancakes this morning. After breakfast, I started a pot of black beans. It was so easy in our outfitted kitchen to use the spices, and the appliances. I baked two pork tenderloins for the next couple of weeks. I’m going to make red lentil bread for my first time. I selected my recipe and got my lentils soaking. I’ll get this finished by 2pm or so. Dinner at Cyndy’s and Bible class from 7-8pm in Denton. I’m looking forward to sleeping with the window open and the beautiful view. Even though it is dark. There are distant lights of the area keeping a low light level in the sky. Thursday. 2. Friday. 3. Called our son Samuel for his birthday. Did a trade session of emotional work on the phone with my good friend Laura.

Nomad Notes. I want to plan something. I want to make something. These are energies I feel within me that are in motion, but I’m not quite sure how to capture the energy and use it with purpose for something today.
My weight: The scale is putting me at 5 pounds above my low weight in the last year. I’m still lower than when I began this macro-tracking diet. My clothes have fit me on all weights so that’s no problem. It is my perception of how I want my weight number to be for me.
I’m up a full 6 pounds in this month of March. I’ve rededicated myself to eating by the plan that has felt good and healthy for me. So here goes from April 1st and forward.
I have a lot of family birthdays in the month of April. Getting Birthday cards and gifts out is on my to-do list.
