Saturday. 12. We have one more night here. I think about and prepare for our driving day and for our next 2 night stay. I do our small amount of laundry. We each think about packing for our upcoming week on the road. I’m cleaning out our portable fridge and freezing some items that we can warm up for dinner at our upcoming remote Wyoming location. We went for a walk in mid-morning today. Mostly we are staying inside, working on computers, having hot tea with milk, and enjoying our housesit. Jeremy, Andrea and Quinn called from Brazil. We all enjoyed the visit, especially the smiles with our grandson Quinn.
Sunday. 13. We packed up and left our Boise, Idaho house sit. We drove to Salt Lake City, Utah and arrived just before 2pm for afternoon worship in downtown where our nephew, Jason Hamilton preaches. After worship we drove another 30 minutes to Tooele, to stay a couple of nights with Darrell’s brother Steve and his wife Janine. They have a new puppy named Oreo. They retired from South Dakota and moved here to be close to their son Jason and his family. We always enjoy our visits together.
Monday. 14. Steve smoked steaks for dinner with his new smoker he’s learning to use. They were delicious!
Tuesday. 15. We pack up and drive to Wyoming. We booked a two night stay at rural YL Ranch near Savery, Wyoming. We arrive to our old cabin turned into a furnished interesting place to stay. We drove 20 miles from the last grocery store and a town of maybe 200 people. Then we drove on a gravel road about the last 7 miles to arrive to this 100 year plus family ranch. It’s now run by one of the family members who bought it and is enjoying keeping it revived and viable. We enjoyed our stay immensely! It’s extremely unique and it’s a true Wyoming experience!
Wednesday. 16. We brought all of our food items with us and we are glad that we did. It kept us so that we didn’t have to drive 20 miles out to the closest store! As much as I wanted to see a moose or a rattlesnake, we didn’t see either. We did see a bunch of marmets living in the barn next to our cabin!
Thursday. 17. Drive to Chappell, Nebraska. Today’s drive included a lot of gravel roads and then through the beautiful Medicine Bow area of Snow-capped mountains and passes on the way to Laramie where we stopped for lunch. We drove on to Chappell, Nebraska and stayed at a very comfortable airbnb for one night to rest on our way to Omaha.
Friday. 18. Today we drove to Papillion, Nebraska near Omaha. We arrived to our weekend stay with Darrell’s brother Jeff, his wife, Gaye and one of their sons Tony.
Nomad Notes. This is a road trip designed by us with some relaxation and visiting days. We also try to limit our driving time to 5 hours in one day. Sometimes we have to drive more than that.
