Saturday. 21.
Sunday. 22. Jeremy drives us with Quinn to a church of Christ. It is organized much like the english-speaking churches we attend. I sit next to Jeremy with my notepad. He gives me summary highlights and the scripture references from the sermon. The song words are projected on a large screen. Darrell uses google translate to show us what the words are. The tunes are easy to follow with the group. The words in Portuguese are a challenge and enjoyable to learn in song. When we get home after worship Andrea is cooking dinner and we enjoy a nice afternoon meal together.
Monday. 23.
Tuesday. 24. Jeremy, Andrea and Quinn go to a Christmas party and Darrell and I stay at the apartment. My friend Grace from England calls me on Whatsapp. We visited for a long time and enjoyed catching up with each other’s details.
Wednesday. 25. Today Darrell and I get up at about 6:30. It’s later for us and very early for this house and the neighbors. We were told that Brazilians like to stay up past midnight on Christmas eve. They slept in late today. We get through an easy exercise routine and then make coffee. In a little while Quinn wakes up and excitedly takes in his experience of the gifts under the tree. We enjoy a few minutes together as he wakes up. We go make breakfast before opening presents. Quinn begins opening his presents and passing out gifts to each of us as he picks them from under the tree. One of his favorite gifts is his new sandbox toys with a bucket, a shovel and a dump truck. After all the gifts are opened, he declares that he wants to go to the playground. Darrell obliges and takes him to try out his new toys in the sand at his closest playground.

Nomad Notes. This week in Brasilia has been easier with our experience of being here this past June and July. We knew what to expect with the apartment and the neighborhood. This is the summer season now. It rains often and the temperature is 70-80 degrees.
This week we’ve called our three sons in the US and Darrell’s Mom. I’ve had several texts with friends and family online to wish Merry Christmas to. It’s been an enjoyable week living in Brazil. I’m looking forward to using my christmas gift with my daughter-in-law Andrea. She got us a spa day together. Even though I was a massage therapist for 16 years, I have never done a spa day. I usually get massages and I appreciate a good one! So this will be a big treat for both of us! Yay!
