Saturday. 15. We made breakfast in our hotel room. Darrell has a bowl of cereal and I microwaved our last egg and made sourdough toast with olive oil and jam. In one of our truck trunks we have a toaster, a couple of forks and spoons, a couple of real bowls and a few more items. We also added a bit of our strong and flavored coffee to the hotel coffee to up our enjoyment. We get on the road and enjoy our very scenic drive along Lake Superior. There are many beautiful beaches. Close to lunchtime we stop and have apple fritters and cappuccinos! Later we eat Mexican for dinner on Lake Huron in St. Ignace, Michigan.
When we get to the bridge going to the US, we had to drive around the block twice to find which turn to make. It’s very confusing especially with some construction going on. Well we made it back into the US!

We checked into our vintage motel in St. Ignace. We’re here until Monday morning.

16-21 July.

Sunday. 16. Darrell found a church in Cedarville about 20 minutes Northeast from St. Ignace. We ate breakfast out and arrived at the church in time to visit some. They have been here about 5-6 years and have purchased an old church building that is very quaint. It has carved bench ends that match the traditional shape of the windows. They look like they are 100 years old!

We enjoyed meeting and worshiping together. We prayed for a member who is has covid pneumonia and was life-flighted to Grand Rapids. Later in the afternoon we went to downtown St. Ignace and walked the boardwalk next to Lake Huron.

Monday. 17. We drive across Mackinaw Bridge where Lake Huron and Lake Michigan converge. The bridge connects upper and lower Michigan together. It’s an engineering marvel! We drive over to Traverse City and have lunch and pie. Pie is big in this state! Lol.

It’s cherry season and we stop and get some cherries and a few other fruits and veggies at a farm market as we are getting to our vintage motel stay near Gladwin.

Tuesday. 18. A bit of a drive, 6 hours to get to Connersville, Indiana to stay overnight with my brother Wayne and his wife Chris. We IM them back and forth about our arrival time and to coordinate dinner. They fix us a nice dinner at their house. Chris has gone all vegetarian in the last year, and she feels and looks great! She shares her current help guide and cookbook. We talk about their recent trip to Switzerland and our upcoming trip to New Zealand. We talk about our grandkids and other highlights of our families. We pray together and rest well in their guest room.

Wednesday. 19. We drive to Eric and Erin’s house, our oldest son’s family. We arrive about 5:30 and they have dinner for all of us. Owen our grandson is so happy to see us in person. He’s especially happy to have his grandpa right there to hold onto and to sit on and to play with! After dinner we go to Bible class with Eric and Erin. We visit Owen’s class and see some old friends and give hugs. During the announcements, they mention the man we prayed for while we were in Michigan. Turns out he was a member here! That’s an astounding coincidence to me!

Thursday. 20. I’m not feeling well today and I’m having a hard time sitting at the computer to do anything. I mostly hang out with Owen. Darrell goes to his doctor and dental appointments. I get a headache in the afternoon and I take a long nap. Eric makes a nice dinner for all of us. Erin is getting very close to having her baby girl. They are on a countdown to delivery day. Darrell and I are here to care of Owen and be available for this busy time.
