#42 August 21, 2021 Vancouver, Washington Farmers Market, Grandson Time, Grandma Makes Mushroom Soup

Today was so sweet with our son Jeremy,  his wife, Andrea and 11 month old baby boy, Quinn.  We walked from our airbnb, down a mountain 1.5 miles to their townhome. We had already had breakfast. We went in their car to downtown Vancouver where there is a weekly farmer's market. Darrell bought some tomatoes for his salads this week. We had a taco from a stand. Then we walked down to the waterfront. We walked at least 3 miles all together. The weather was cool in the 60's-70. When we got back to the townhome,  we had all gotten hungry and wanted more tacos. Jeremy and Darrell went to get tacos from Super Taco. It was close and had a nice menu. We stuffed ourselves,  and we weren't as hungry then at our regular, early 5pm dinner time. I made a thick mushroom soup with paprika and sour cream for dinner. Andrea made blackberry cobbler from berries Darrell and I picked along the road. We ate well, and then drive the kids car back to our airbnb.  We were getting up at 5am, to return early Sunday morning as solo sitters for Quinn. Jeremy and Andrea are taking their first night away without the baby. They have been caring and growing together, just the 3 of them, mainly because of the pandemic and staying isolated.  Quinn is sweet and friendly with Darrell and I so we are going to be good.

About a year ago, he chose this transatlantic one. Mainly we had discussed doing this one or an Alaskan cruise. He picked this one for two-three main reasons: 1) it’s 2 weeks long with a lot of down time to relax and disconnect from work. 2) this cruise usually is about 50% guest capacity 3) per day price is always less expensive on repositioning cruises. Getting up at 5:30-6am and taking care of our house sit cockatiels and cats was easier today! Lol. Doing it with two people is a lot easier than trying to do it with one. We got through the animal feedings and had breakfast before 8am today. Around 9am Jeremy and Andrea and Quinn called from Brazil. I always get a big smile with my kids on the phone so I appreciate the attention and time together! Darrell and I had a few animal chores that we attended to. I made two days of fresh food for the birds. Darrell vacuumed the bird areas. We also had to remove the old paper in 4 cages so that it is now fresh for another couple of days. After lunch we went driving around to see some of the local sites. There is a National Wildlife preserve where we took a short walk to a beach view. Argh! They have been coming at 5 am, and today they were 15 minutes earlier. Darrell says they are on solar time. We slept well, and they did leave us quiet all night long–ahhh. Lol. We did our harder workout of Diamond Lite DDP yoga today. We had a fabulous homemade breakfast and enjoyed our quiet and sunny beautiful mountain views.  Sunday. 8. Today is our final and 3rd Sunday in Penticton. For worship we have been participating online with our congregation in Alabama. We didn’t find any congregations in this small town who worship with acapella singing among other practices important to us.
