#40 August 7, 2021 Rocking Chair Shopping, and Forest Hike
Blevins Gap parking lot just off Cecil Ashburn Dr. This road comes up from Jones Valley to the summit in less than a mile, and keeps going over the summit into Owens Crossroads.
Cool rock formations on our woodsy hike.
Looking over Jones Valley at Blevins Gap Overlook. There is a big parking lot for sunset viewing.

This is our 40th Saturday of airbnb living. Our retirement Nomad life is coming closer! Today Darrell made French Toast for breakfast. And dark coffee of course! We drove to Eric and Erin's house (our oldest son and his wife). Darrell got put to work helping with wall repairs to prepare for the painting crew on Monday. Erin and I did a little rocking chair shopping just before the four of us met for lunch at Viet Huong, one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants.
Darrell and I made our way back to our airbnb home and worked on our computers. We were able to move forward with more information and timing on our plan for changing from our current phone plan. This is incredibly complex for many reasons including: we are coordinating with 5 adults (us and 3 adult kids); at least 4 of us want to keep our current phone numbers and transfer them; the phone bills and companies are complex (right?); we want to get through this by the end of the year and begin practicing and seeing our costs and cash savings as we practice using Google Voice and sim cards.
Through this past week I've had a build up of stress, and I've also had the luxury of resting and recovering with walking and low-maintenance living. So in this Nomad life, and in our last week's countdown to moving day (again), we went out to dinner Saturday. This jaunt of about a 10 minute drive over a mountain road and then down into Jones Valley was beautiful! We ate burgers at "Cheeseburger Bobby's". Then on our drive back up the mountain, we discovered a pull-off at the peak. A big parking lot that overlooks Jones Valley and the daily sunset. It's a Land Trust of Huntsville called "Blevins Gap". It has miles of hiking in the woods. We parked and hiked a moderate level trail for over an hour. We were sweaty and quite happy with our excursion. The long walk helped me to burn off stress and sleep well too!
