Saturday. 30. Check out of Kenai and drive 2 ½ hours to Anchorage house sit. At our arrival we were able to soon see the Mama Moose with her twins in the yard. Thankfully we were able to unload our car before they showed up!
Sunday. 31. Go to worship with congregation we met with on our first two Sundays in Anchorage. We met Daniel and Sarah a year ago in British Columbia. We’ve stayed in touch and intersected in Anchorage today!! Wow! Daniel and Sarah came to worship with us. The four of us went out for lunch together. We were having such a good time visiting over a long lunch, that we left there and went to a coffee shop and talked for another hour+. We finally said good bye.

Monday. 1. Stay home. Napped today. We went to Potter Marsh to walk on the boardwalk for bird watching. It was freezing and the wind was blowing hard! We didn’t see many birds! Lol. But we walked pretty quickly to the end of every boardwalk pathway.
Tuesday. 2. Online Bible class. Long walk. Napped again today. Today I have been sneezing and blowing my nose often. I either have a cold or I’m having a strong allergic reaction to something. My throat is scratchy too. The weather outside is beautiful today! It got up to 67F, and I was able to be outside with a tee shirt and no sweater.
Wednesday. 3. I woke up before 6am and before Darrell. I left our room quietly and went upstairs for quiet time and water. I enjoyed my daily Bible reading. Kesugi, our housecat, came to the door for his breakfast. I gave him a good pet when he came in and then fed him. He came back around to me after eating and sat in my lap for some more attention. Then he was ready to go back outside. He came back again around 9am for some snacks and more attention and petting. Since being at Tawny and Jeff’s house during this house sit, I’ve decided that I like their coffee maker a lot! I will put this coffee maker at the top of all the coffee makers that we’ve used at all the places we’ve stayed. It’s a one cup at a time Cuisinart with a bean grinder.

Thursday. 4. Still dealing with my allergies. I went to Natural Pantry in Anchorage to find an allergy supplement. Turns out that this store is a very nice and large grocery and healthfood store. I spent an hour looking at products and shopping. I didn’t get through the whole store, but I enjoyed my time shopping. My allergies improved more with my supplements today.
Friday. 5. I’m enjoying watering the outdoor flowers here. I’ve just realized in the last couple of days that they need water everyday. Tawny asked me in the notes to water these everyday, but I missed that for a few day. I began watering the plants on Wednesday. They are looking fine. They need plenty of water. More water than I’m used to putting on plants maybe because of the long daylight hours and the warmer weather. Today we’re planning to go downtown to the Alaska Museum for the free admission night 6-9pm. We enjoyed the free admission at the downtown museum, but would not recommend the $25 ticket.
Nomad Notes:
Dealing with not feeling well:
For a couple of days I’ve had some sneezing and a runny nose. On Wednesday morning my throat was a little scratchy. I decided to look up Anchorage allergies and it’s springtime thing here with birch trees and alder trees topping the list. I am trying an over the counter allergy pill to see if my symptoms are affected. My symptoms are better after taking the one ‘24’ hour pill. I’m hoping the benefits will continue for the whole 24 hours. TBD. Bible class is at 6pm. We went to class at 5:30. By the time class started at 6pm, I was very congested. I went to bed with a stuffy nose. My throat was clear, but my sinuses were so clogged and uncomfortable. I slept okay.
Thursday. 4. Once I got up, my sinuses drained and I began to feel better. My throat stayed clear through the day. I went to Natural Pantry and got an allergy supplement. I started taking three of the huge pills just before lunch. I’m breathing ok, but I can feel the dryness and I’m still uncomfortable. I’ll keep taking my supplements through the day and decide this evening if I’ll take another over-the-counter allergy pill before bed. I took another supplement around 3:30 and I felt my sinus clearing while taking a walk outside. I’m feeling so much better now than on Tuesday and Wednesday. Either tomorrow or Saturday I want to get some local Birch syrup and honey to help my immunity.
Friday and Saturday my allergies are manageable with health supplements and a tablespoon of local honey. I’m breathing well now. I'm beginning to taste my food again.
