Saturday. 29. We slept in until 6:30 am. It’s so quiet here! We both enjoy this kind of quiet. We began our day with a more difficult DDP floor routine. We are each getting better over time doing these routines. We try to keep mixing them up and doing the order a bit differently each day. We also had our big pancake breakfast! This is a huge house for us, and bigger without Cyndy and Mom now. We are enjoying our day here without any need to leave today. We both have computer work to catch up on and rest before our travel day on Monday back to Alabama. We had a call from Brazil and talked to our son, Jeremy and Grandson Quinn. Quinn was excited to talk about his books. He obviously loves books. Knowing this has made me buy at least 3 more for him. He’s also learning piano and is up to the ‘B’ note. He sang a song to us in Portuguese too! What a cutie. His mom, Andrea, was out with a group doing goat yoga at a farm. Later she posted pictures and it looked funny and fun. Meanwhile, we had tacos for lunch. I wrapped a few small christmas gifts, and sent out a group message for our family meal get-together in Alabama before we left for Brazil. The weather is raining and much colder today, but not icy.

Sunday-Friday. 30-5. On Sunday we were in Hot Springs for our 2nd Sunday during this stay. We enjoy meeting with the small church of Christ in Hot Springs. The preacher, Adam Kendall-Ball is a unique man, as he was born in Rhodesia, or present day Zimbabwe. He and his family lost their citizenship when the country went through changes and they were unwilling to live in Zimbabwe exclusively. So now he lives in the US as well as his parents and his sister’s family. Besides Adam, at this church, there were many others of all ages with a heavy amount of retirees. Adam says it's a phenomenon about Hot Springs that people retire here. Darrell and I felt right at home here, maybe because we are in that demographic. We did like living in our airbnb in Hot Springs Village, which I learned is the largest gated community in the US! There are 9 golf courses. Well, the people at church are wonderful, kind, and friendly with great classes and teaching lessons too! I’m ready to go back and get to know them better.

Monday we left Hot Springs and drove back to Harvest, Alabama until we fly to Brazil on Dec 9th.

This week I had a phone call with my friend Dawn. I showed her my way of beginner Neurographic Art. She's and artist and took right to it and began making drawings! She enjoyed it so much that I shared again on Friday with my friend Melanie, who came to our Airbnb for a visit. This week Darrell had an eye appointment to check the pressure in his eye. The pressure is better. He's been applying 2 meds 2x a day into this eye for the remedy. It's working and he's to keep doing it. His next appointments are in January.

Nomad Notes: I wrote some of this memory in my notes this week. As a mother in my 20's-30's, I gave birth to 5 sons. My husband was in the US Army. We moved about every 2-3 years with Darrell's duty assignments. Our third son was Benjamin. I had a difficult birth, including getting a transfusion (donated blood put into my body to increase my blood volume). His newborn assessment at the hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas came back unexpected. Benjamin had a major heart defect, a small left ventrical. He went through an experimental surgery in downtown Kansas City, and died at 16 days old. My Dad and Mom came from Indiana and spent days with us. My Dad spoke at his funeral. He was buried in a federal grave in Leavenworth. Darrell and I were also assigned spots there, if desired. What takes our attention and how do we process loss and grief? I think this memory came to my mind because of the neurographic art that I've been doing this week. Processing life memories, griefs, and gains continue throughout life and growth. Our mind is continuing to grow, remember and learn perspectives that can be intended and chosen direction. I'm always trying to put in Biblical truths and scriptures to bring peace, healing and comfort to my current and past experiences and thoughts in life.

Some scriptures in my neurographic art book that I began in March 2024:

1 Thes 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, Pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

James 1:19-20 "the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God"

(resolve=be at peace)

Philippians 4:6-7 "In everything by prayer and petition with Thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (clear thinking and reasoning)
