#235 Nomad Diary. 19-25 April 2025. Calgary House Sit Continues. Three Days US Roundtrip for Darrell's Dad's Funeral.

A Bridge Into Calgary

Saturday. 19. Mostly at our house on our computers all day. I did some housekeeping and cooking. We went shopping at a mall and a grocery store for a couple hours. 
Sunday. 20. Church in Calgary. Cooking meals at our house. Packing and getting ready for our 3 day air trip back to the US for Darrell’s Dad’s funeral in Illinois.
Monday. 21. Get up at 3:30 am. Drive and part at Calgary airport. Fly to St. Louis, Missouri. Get Rental car. Meet up with Jeremy, our son who flew in from Brazil, a 20 hour trip!! Also a nephew, Nathan from Salt Lake City. We rode 1 ½ hours to Mt. Vernon, Illinois to our airbnb rental house. Meet up there with Eric’s family who drove up 6 hours from Alabama. Prepare meat, beans and nacho items for dinner with family at Mom and Cyndy’s airbnb. Visiting until about 7:30 pm. Return to our airbnb and fall asleep! Ahhh. 
Tuesday. 22. Darrell’s Dad’s funeral in Dix, Illinois. Lunch with family after. After lunch we, along with Jeremy, drove to St. Louis to spend the night at a hotel. We found a hole in the wall Mexican place for a taco and ice cream. Jeremy’s flight left early Wednesday morning.
Wednesday. 23. Woke up at a St. Louis airport hotel. Exercised and went for breakfast. We stayed until about 11:30 and headed to lunch. After lunch we turned in our rental car and took the shuttle to the airport. Our flight was delayed about 30 minutes because of ground halts at our Denver destination. We were near the front of the plane and ran 15 minutes steadily through the Denver airport, catching the train from concourse B to concourse A. Even though our plane in Denver took off a little late, every passenger arrived and got on. We arrived in Calgary very close to our expected time. It was a short walk to our truck and a 15 minute drive back to our 2 cat housesit. We were in bed before midnight!
Thursday. 24. Yesterday I discovered a very sore spot on my foot. Today I was able to get an acupuncture appointment at a school clinic. My foot began to improve more rapidly! Yay! Today we tried to fill in some of our open and unscheduled travel days in Canada during May. We looked and tried different options of where we may want to drive and live, but we didn’t come up with any final plans.
Friday. 25. Sunny in Calgary. Here at our 2 cat housesit until Monday. After breakfast Darrell found an Alaskan cruise to book in June for some of our open dates. We still have some open dates for May to figure out! We walked 5+ miles round trip to downtown Calgary. It’s downhill there and uphill on the way back. Along the way we stopped for lunch and later for a coffee. There were a couple of museums that seemed worthy of going through, but it’s so pretty outside! We stayed outside.

Nice morning at our Dunnellon, Florida airbnb: exercise, breakfast, a load of laundry, pack, clean up and check out. We get on the road headed for Boca Raton on the east coast and just north of Ft. Lauderdale. We have a four night Marriott stay booked that is a room with a kitchen. We get to our hotel earlier than the 4pm check in time. They give us our room. We go to our room. We walk a couple of blocks to the ferry dock. We buy tickets to ride over to Nevis Island about 40 minutes by water taxi. We arrive to Nevis Island by 11am. We walk around the port area...
