Saturday. 23. Sea Day.

Sunday. 24. Sea Day. We worship together in our room and online with our Alabama church family. Talk to our son Jeremy and grandson Quinn! Andrea is close by listening too!

Monday. 25. Arriving in Rio. Sugarloaf and Christ Statue. Overnight in Port. We took an Uber to Sugarloaf. We met up with friends from our ship: Cameron and his wife Sharon and friend Grace. The line was so long! They ended up leaving and going to the Christ statue another 20 minute taxi ride. We stayed to do Sugarloaf. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was not as crowded as it appeared once we got into the cars riding up and down the mountain. The line was longer than the ride and the time on the two hills. We had a snack at our return to stop one. Once we got done there, we got a taxi to Christ the redeemer statue. We stood in line again to take the incline train up the mountain. It was quite a long ride and the train was full. Once we arrived at the top there were an additional 200 stairs to get all the way up to the statue. There were also 2 escalators for the last two segments. We saw these from the top and rode them down! Lol. We got back down the mountain and called a taxi to take us back to the port. 

Tuesday. 26. 2nd Day in Rio. Walk along the waterfront. Ride the Ferris Wheel. The ferris wheel is taller than the multi-story building beside it. The cars were air conditioned and had a very solid feeling.

Wednesday. 27. Sea Day. Update my Uber app. Purchase an annual app: GPSmycity A recommendation from Brenda and Al during a dinner conversation.

Thursday. 28. Sea Day.

Friday. 29. Montevideo, Uruguay. We take a long walk through the old town today. The town is quaint and lovely. There are many shops inviting tourists in. We go into one shop and I get some new sunglasses that fit over my eye glasses. I also bought a wool poncho to give me some more warmth in Antarctica! After walking a long circuit, we are heading back to the ship. We go to the mercado very close to the ship and the smells of bbq are wafting. We get invited into a restaurant with a daily menu and we decide to eat lunch there! We had large steaks with a side, water and bread with dip. All delicious. 

Nomad Notes. We are often giving and getting travel tips that include apps and web sites that make travel easier. I enjoy meeting people and practicing remembering their names. I’ve gotten better through the years of my practice! Thanks to my sister Annette for challenging me to do this over 10 years ago. It has enhanced my travel experience and made me feel more connected to people as I am moving around so often!
