Saturday. 20. Spent time at Eric and Erin’s house with the little ones! We also enjoyed an afternoon gospel singing at Eric’s house.

Sunday. 21. Finalized our packing and dropped off some of our boxes at Samuel’s house.

Monday. 22. Drive Harvest, Alabama to Natchez, Mississippi. Stay Mon,Tue and Wed nights at an 1830’s Beaumont House Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed our stay at Natchez. Breakfast was cooked each morning and served to us and other guests. The town has amazing history that is pre-civil war and then through the civil war and into the 20th century. Many conflicts in this region between black and white people. We toured old houses, walked through the streets of town admiring the architecture.

Tuesday. 23. We enjoyed eating at different restaurants in town. Went to the city cemetery with it’s beautiful trees and unique grave markers.

Wednesday.24. The old Presbyterian Church in town has a fabulous free museum of old photos from 1860-1910. The story of the regional photos and how they came to be here is interesting too.

Friday. 26.Breakfast at our studio. Dinner together.

Nomad Notes.

Slower Travel: lol. One way to make our road trip travel slow down is to spend more nights in one location. We opted for a three night stay ½ way from Athens, Alabama to Natchez, Mississippi. Then on to Darrell’s folks in North Texas.

When we were road tripping all over New Zealand we had some 1 night, some 2 night and some 3 night stays. We enjoyed our 3 night stays more. But I do want to put my hand up for having as short of driving days as possible in New Zealand too. We were able to cover a lot of territory and generally minimize our driving times to less than 4 hours. That’s because we were willing to pack, unpack and move again.
