Saturday. 8. A walk at Indian Creek Greenway and then lunch at Taziki’s with Samuel and Wes.

Sunday. 9. Morning worship at Capshaw church. Met Jane, a woman from Ireland visiting our mutual friend Valerie. Lunch with Joey. An afternoon rest and then a trip over to Eric and Erin’s to visit with them and walk the littles to the playground.

Monday. 10. Working on packing today. I took a couple items to donate at a thrift store. I found a skirt and a sweater to buy while there. I went over to Walmart and bought a new yoga mat. Then stopped at Eric’s to play for a few minutes with Owen and Esther. Back to our place for lunch, a rest and more packing.

Tuesday. 11. Today is busy and not busy for a moving and travel day. We check out of our airbnb sometime after breakfast. Go over to Samuel’s house and leave our crates and trunks that fill our truck bed. Then we go over to Eric’s and play with the kids until we get an Uber ride from our friend Melanie to the airport. From the airport we have a flight to Atlanta. Next we have an international flight to Sao Paulo that lasts about 10 hours. From there we have a third flight of 2 hours to Brasilia. Jeremy is getting us at the airport there and taking us to his home for 5 weeks. Get to Atlanta, flight delayed then moved to a second airplane, also got flagged and canceled until 9am. We got $48. In dinner vouchers and a hotel voucher too. We got to our hotel by shuttle. We took the opportunity to change our flight to leave at 330pm the next day so we could sleep in. Our new itinerary gets us to Brasilia on Thursday morning. In bed by 1230 am.

Wednesday. 12. Woke up rested. Exercised and walked to IHOP about a mile for breakfast. After our meal we walked back, read did Spanish lessons, napped then Got our shuttle to the airport around noon. Plenty of space in our comfort plus seats. We enjoyed our 6 ½ hour flight to Lima. Layover in Lima airport at midnight was nice. Plenty of restaurants and shopping. Our bags were loaded to our Latam Flight without any issues.

Thursday. 13. We were so tired arriving to Brasilia at 7am but we arrived. Jeremy came a picked us up. We got to the apartment and hugged Andrea and Quinn. We made our breakfasts and visited. Darrell and I both played with Quinn or he played with us together and separately. He was so sweet and affectionate. We played with his cars, his wood train set, went to the playground, layed on the bed and watched kid song videos together, played Candyland, and Concentration. I'm quite tired tonight. Andrea has a cold that's gotten worse through the day. I cooked dinner and cleaned up. Jeremy made some delicious chocolate cookies. We had a lovely first day here.

Friday. 14. Jeremy took Darrell and I out for dinner. He drove us from their apartment onto a highway and to a place where there were several restaurants along water. We could see a bridge that Jeremy said is well known in Brasilia. We parked inside a gated area built for all these restaurants. There were a couple of boats taking on passengers for evening rides. We went to a restaurant and requested patio seating. The menu we ordered from was a 3-course meal for $20. The drink is extra and there is no tipping. We each had an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert plus a bottled water for about $22 each. It was a delicious meal.

Nomad Notes. My first thoughts flying into Brasilia were that I wouldn’t choose to come here on my own. We are coming because we have family who we want to visit, and they are opening their home to us with a guest bedroom. Andrea shopped for us before we arrived and had our breakfast items that we like: eggs, sourdough, avocado, olive oil and then items for Darrell to make pancakes including maple syrup that they shipped in bulk for themselves from Maine.

My thoughts as Jeremy drove us from the airport to his apartment in Brasilia are noticing how clean and well-kept this city is. The roadways are tree-lined and quite clean. There is evidence of some homeless people living here and there near the highway in green space and under large trees.

Jeremy and Andrea's apartment is roomy and comfortable. It's on the 3rd floor. There are 4 bedrooms. Jeremy uses one for an office and there are three full bathrooms to serve these bedrooms. Two are ensuites. In the living area of the house are two more toilet rooms! 5 toilets in this apartment in all! There are three roomy sunrooms with sliding doors to the rooms they serve. There are no bugs that seem to get up this high into the sky. The floors are marble tiles. It is furnished with a combination of US loaned out furniture and some that Jeremy and Andrea shipped from their own furniture.
