Saturday. 25. Lunch with our sons at Peppered Pig in Southeast Huntsville. Wes picked the spot and it was a super nice restaurant to enjoy our meal together. Because the drive was so long, Samuel and Eric came to our place and Darrell drove us together. We enjoyed our mini road trip in Huntsville too! In the evening we went to an annual Ice Cream Supper given by friends from church. I’m going to say it’s a kooky thing that they like to do by just having desserts at dinner time. They attach an event with the group to also celebrate. Today it was a going away party for two families who are moving away this week. People bring homemade ice cream and then there is a voting for the best one. We took a big bowl of fresh strawberries and some walnuts to go with the ice cream. The weather was perfectly beautiful. The visiting with our friends was such a treat! I was able to meet and visit with some people who are new to me and a part of the church since we moved away in March 2022. When we come back to town and attend church we are amazed at all the people and growth there! It’s so wonderful..
Sunday. 26. We spent time at church and then went to lunch with a family from church with two little girls and another woman also. We visited for a long time on the restaurant patio, then we went home and rested. At 11pm our time we logged into our friend’s memorial service happening in Australia. Our travel friend Gary was 65 when he died suddenly in St. Kitts. His wife Tricia spent about a week there getting everything settled and getting back to Australia with his ashes. We had spent a week at their home in March. We are reminded that life is beautiful in it’s time, and we are so thankful for our times with Gary and Tricia together. We rarely stay up past 10pm. We went to bed at 1am and made up for our lack of sleep throughout the coming week. Lol.

Monday. 27. Today is a US holiday, Memorial Day. Eric invited us over for a lunch time cookout. We arrived and enjoyed the meal with his family and also Erin’s brother Chris with wife Beth and baby Millie. Our other sons Wes and Samuel came too. They stayed later and we played a long hand of Contract Rummy.

Wednesday. 29.
Thursday. 30. Morning routines. Darrell has a fasting dr. appointment. I’m waiting until he leaves to have breakfast and we are sitting on our porch. He gets a text from the dr’s office telling him that his appointment is canceled for today and they will call him back for a reschedule on another day. His doctor is probably 80 years old so we are curious about what is going on. We decide to go inside and have breakfast together. It’s very nice and one of our favorite times together! He also had a lunch date that got changed so we decide to go for a walk at Indian Creek Parkway. We’ve walked this trail a lot since moving here in 2008. Darrell’s office was a mile from here and he walked it during his lunch hour often. Eric texts and we make plans to babysit for him after lunch. Beautiful shady walk. Nice time with Owen and Esther and some with Eric too. Then back to our house for our dinner, another evening walk through our neighborhood and some Antiques Roadshow on tv. This has been my go to show during our time here. I like the short stories of objects. Some are interesting and some are not! Lol! Then comes the value of the item. It never ends! Lol. We go to bed early around 9pm and I fall asleep often before Darrell.

Friday. 31. We both woke up for the day around 5 am. I slept a full uninterrupted 7+ hours, and that’s really great for me! We did our ‘hard’ day of exercise of a 40 minute DDPyoga routine. Our routines vary each day in this order: 1 day easiest 23 minute routine; 2 days moderate routine choice 25 -30 minutes; 1 hardest day routine choice 30-40 minutes. We have our 2 basic and favorite breakfast choices. Today we have left over homemade pancakes with today’s options of berries, walnuts, maple syrup, butter, bacon, and strong coffee. After breakfast is cleaned up about 7am we sit outside on our front porch and sip coffee, talk, read news, etc. Around 8am we go to our computers. I get the laundry started. I’m thinking about this blog and I’m thinking about going back to Indian Creek Greenway to take a walk like we took yesterday. I tell Darrell about my walk idea and he’d like that too. We plan our time to leave around 8:30. The walk was nice and shady and cooler at this time of day. We enjoy a good pace and conversation. We get back home around 10:30 and have plans to meet up with our son Samuel for lunch at the Mexican Food truck a couple blocks from our house.
Nomad Notes: This week has been restful. Our 5th week of 6 in our Madison, Alabama airbnb. The rest has not been without stress. Darrell and I have talked about the stresses we have that come whether we own a fixed home or we live in this nomad way. We each have our own stresses and then stresses together. We spend time to work through our stresses separately and together in prayer, in Bible study and conversations.
This week we have gravitated toward eating a lighter dinner. I tend toward eating more vegetable meals. We have added a baked potato dinner to our simple fix meals. Darrell goes with a regular potato while I go for a sweet potato. We’ve also had a black bean soup. And I have eaten some large salads for meals too. Darrell eats a large salad at dinner some with added cheese and crackers.
This week my weight is down 3 pounds and Darrell’s weight is down 5 pounds. We have dropped quickly. We separately keep track and have noticed our sharp downward trend this week. We have wondered what is different. There are several things including the above vegetarian lighter dinners. Here’s a list of changes that we have made in this last month that could impact our sudden weight losses this week:
We recently flipped our ‘big meal’ to lunchtime and have opted for lighter and often vegetarian dinners. (old adage: “eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper” lol! Having the choice is an amazing freedom and wealth!)
We are drinking a daily MCT (Dr.Gundry)supplement and on our 5th week.
We began about 2 weeks ago using a Vibe with wave protocols for the body and studies of raising ATP levels.
We’ve both had 3 and 4 weeks ago a weeklong+ cold/respiratory illness and are recovered. (I took antibiotics for this and for a bladder issue)
We are eating more meals at our house that we shop and fix. We have still eaten restaurant meals.
We will continue to keep track of our weights, and be ever so thankful for each meal!
