Walking in the woods in Decatur, Alabama
Saturday. 7.
We spent the morning at our airbnb house as we do most mornings. We so enjoy waking up without an alarm, but still early. We exercise before breakfast on most days. We cook breakfast together and enjoy our meal with strong brewed coffee. We went to visit Eric, Erin and Owen in the afternoon. We also took a walk in the woods at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. There are a lot of birds here now and we are on the less populated side of the water, But we still saw a couple of them.
Sunday. 8.
Today we went to morning worship at Capshaw church of Christ in Limestone county. They had an almost full building with over 180 people in attendance. This group is combining with another group in Harvest, Alabama over the next year. So in the afternoon we all met at the Harvest building for a singing together. We met many new people and enjoyed the gospel singing and encouragement. We ate lunch out and stopped by Eric and Erin’s for a visit.

Monday. 9.
I met up with two friends today and had a great time catching up with each of them! Darrell and I walked at Mallard Point in Decatur, Alabama. It was quite cool by late afternoon but the sun was stunning over the river and through the trees. We did some grocery shopping and cooked Pasta Genovese for dinner. Also I had another dental appointment. Hopefully that’s the last one for a while!

Wednesday. 11.
Went to visit my friend Dawn Rosengren. She and I share a love of her art! Lol! She is a watercolor artist who has two lines of quilting fabric with Henry Glass. Her third line is coming out in May!! She gifted me with seeing and choosing from her bolts of fabric!! I wanted it all! I am limited with when I can sew this up and I cannot wait to get it all accomplished by summertime! While I was at Dawn’s, Darrell went to be with Owen and Eric. I went by to have my lunch on our way back to our place. Owen had already eaten but wanted to eat with me. It’s pretty cute and seems to be that he expects me to have banana when I’ve brought food. I also had sweet potato that he wanted too. He ate a 2nd lunch with me! Lol. In the evening I had my last chiropractic appointment for now and we went to Bible class and enjoyed more time with our friends there.
Thursday. 12.
In the morning we had a storm with tornado threats so we stayed in our house until late morning. I spent time on my pc and with Darrell helping me get some insurance items straightened up and findable. Computer stuff for me has been a challenge, but through the years I have come along pretty well. Mostly because I have had Darrell and others helping me with applications and organization. So thankful for all the support! We went out for lunch. I got my hair cut!! Yay. We had an afternoon walk as the storms were past. Darrell did the grocery shopping today.

Friday. 13.
Today was mostly spent at our house. I had an EPT session with my friend Laura as we are long-time colleagues and very good friends through our lives. Darrell and I prepared ourselves 3 very nice meals today. We have spent a considerable amount of time online and discussing our growth and perspectives of living this nomad life. We went to see Owen for a couple of hours, and he was in a very playful disposition. One game was to have Darrell put his giraffe blanky on his head and he would walk around with it on his head, take it off and come back for another round.
Nomad Notes.
We are here until Wednesday morning when we begin our road trip to Portland, Maine. I have a new suitcase that we ordered from Amazon. It is a travelpro brand and it replaces my REI rollerboard that I had to return.
Our groceries and meal making are getting wound down as we are approaching travel days. We have downsized many items from our current boxes and clothes. We given away a couple of heavy items: an iron dutch oven and a vitamix. We are kind of excited to feel the difference when we go to load up the truck. For now, it’s been a sweet week visiting friends and family and knowing we have more loved ones to see in the coming weeks.
