#110 2022 November 26-December 2. Nomad Diary. A Week At Sea! Crossing the Atlantic Ocean Onboard the Regal Princess. Arrive in Ft. Lauderdale.

Sunrise on the Atlantic Ocean on the Regal Princess.

Captain of the Regal Princess talking to passengers about Princess. He is a 3rd generation employee who worked his way and education up from the bottom to being a captain. Supposedly he loves to cook and has a youtube cooking channel.

Saturday. 26. Sea day.

Fresh flower arrangement on the ship is spectacular!

Another beautiful day on the Atlantic Ocean.

Sunday. 27. A sea day. Sunday is our worship day that includes taking the Lord’s supper, singing praises and prayers to God and looking into the word of God for a time.

Monday. 28. A sea day. Everyday we do early morning exercises. Watch the sun rise if possible. Eat breakfast. Have a mid-morning coffee or tea. Attend a passenger led Bible study. Rest on the deck. Read, Attend lectures, games and shows. Eat lunch and dinner. Go to bed around 9-10pm.

Another sea day. Mild temperature. Amazing clouds and sky. Personal balcony for relaxing.

Tuesday. 29. This sea crossing has been mild with moderate temperatures. It’s pleasant.

There is always another cloudy sky to enjoy!

A colorful 5 layer dessert served at the buffet today. We both ate on this dessert tasting each layer separately and together. We agreed that one layer flavor didn’t fit in with the others! Lol! It was very creative though!

Wednesday. 30. A sea day. On these sea days, the ship had already told us that we would not have internet. It’s nice not to have internet for a while. It’s an opportunity to do something else!

Us at sunrise. Watching the sunrise elates me. I use my elation memory to get me out of bed early to go watch the event! More sunrises. More awe!

Thursday. 1. A sea day. On this day we say our goodbyes to each of our table servers and our friends we have made through living here for a month in this onboard community. We get our luggage organized and packed for exiting the ship on Friday morning.

Arrive to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the early morning. My mother’s hometown. My grandparents were called pioneers in this town because they came in the 1930’s as foundational citizens.

Just hours after arriving and almost getting to our airbnb, we have a fender scrape thanks to an impatient driver. The police put her at fault. Insurance is filed but the repair shops are backed up for 6 months in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Repair is postponed until summer. Thankfully it’s so not serious.

Friday. 2. Arrive Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Process off of the ship by 10 am. Walk 2.5 miles to Layton’s garage where our truck has been stored since May! It’s in great condition! We drive to lunch, to shop, call a couple of friends. Hang out until close to 4pm when we can check into our airbnb.

Nomad Notes.

We had an email from a couple we met on the ship and had played daily afternoon trivia with. In my email back to Christine and Richard, also big-time world travelers, I explain our arrival into Ft. Lauderdale and the next few days I will save for my next blog entry.

Hello Christine and Richard!

Wow, you are on the ball! You said you would write and you have! So sweet to hear from you. Your next travel sounds enjoyable! I am amazed that you've been to places multiple times! Since we are just getting started on our post-retirement travels, we are curious how and where our travels will expand.

I'm like 5+ weeks behind on my Nomad Diary/Blog. I remind myself that I am writing it for myself and for my memories. That helps me take pressure off.

We spent the first 3 nights off the boat in Ft. Lauderdale. We picked up our truck which was well-cared for and in excellent condition. In the afternoon as we were arriving at our airbnb, a driver sped around Darrell's left side as he was turning left on a residential road and into a driveway. That didn't do major damage, but scraped up the front left bumper. She lived close and her husband came and we ended up calling the police. It turned out good to settle the issue that this was her fault. We got through that and were able to relax and make dinner for ourselves!  (the rest of this letter will be in my next blog).

When we went to the grocery store we were surprised by how much the prices have gone up since May! The prices a month ago in England and Barcelona were not as high as they are here and now. Well we aren’t having a daily cappuccino break! Lol…it’s now in the grocery budget!
