#78 April 30, 2022 Nomad Diary: San Francisco. Begin Cruise. Cabo. Sea Days.

Saturday Activities: Sea Day, Cabo San Lucas to Puerto Vallarta,  Mexico. What do I do on a sea day? Sleep until I wake up. Darrell and I get up together and exercise in our room since it is large enough to accommodate our activity. Darrell enjoys stepping out onto the balcony to have limitless headroom and stretch his arms fully. Then we went to the buffet around 7am with a few other early risers. This ship has about 50% passenger load. 1700 passengers, not the 3000 that could be onboard. It makes for short lines, wide empty spaces, and really great service! We satisfy our hunger with eggs, pastry, and fresh fruit,  and hot tea as we have grown to dislike the coffee onboard.  I am looking for a single serve coffee that I like and can have here with me. The instant Mexican coffee I bought in Cabo is just ok. On to my next try!

Sunset on Saturday from our ship balcony.

I took a picture of the swirling clouds nearing sunset. My only picture of the day. Other activities today were: a Bible class which is being lead by an 87 year old Chinese (American) retired (uh, yeah!), Baptist pastor. We are enjoying his lessons and directing of class while meeting several new people who also come for study. We took a nap, got in a hot tub, Darrell got in a pool, ate fresh pizza with anchovies, played trivia with a regular group, said hi to new people we have met while continuing to learn and practice their names, went to the dining room with random seating and met and dined with three new acquaintances.  We passed on the evening show, choosing instead to read on our deck as the weather is extremely pleasant and the sea exquisitely calm. It's a lovely day.

Week Highlights:

Sunday. Josh and Kirby's all day.

Josh, Kirby and their adorable children. They live in San Francisco, and hosted worship on Sunday in their home. Then we were welcomed and stayed all day visiting.

Barefooted worship in San Francisco. There is a second room of people not shown in this picture.

Monday. Covid test. Walk 9 miles all over San Francisco. Chowder in bread bowl. German dinner. Rooftop garden park.

Club Quarters Hotel 11th floor terrace.

Tuesday. Begin Cruise.

Very nice suite.

Wednesday. Sea day. Meet new friends. Play trivia.

Martha, Harriet, Tom. Cruising friends from Florida we just met. Harriet has been on a ship for almost 90 days straight!

Thursday: Sea day.

Darrell exercising on our deck. I'm stopping my exercising to capture this picture.

Friday: Cabo San Lucas,  Mexico

We hiked up high!

Great view. Tired of walking,  but I must go down.

The way down.  We tried to make it to the peak in the background, but stopped short to conserve my energy.

Smoothies in town.

Nomad Notes: We meet travelers (some life-long)onboard ship, and are learning from their experiences.
