#45 September 11, 2021 Harvest, Alabama, 85 degree days, Work is Busy, Grandbaby Waiting
Today was a luxury to sleep in until 6:30. We had a couple of our windows open through the night to let in the cool, fresh air. The nights are getting down just below 60 degrees and it feels nice. From our duplex, we can walk around a neighborhood and back to our place in 30 minutes. It is a nice shaded and quiet street.
We are in the waiting time for our grandbaby to be born any day in the next week. Our daughter-in-law is on leave from work and able to rest and get more things ready for their new little one. She was able to find a nice rocker-recliner that will be delivered next week.
I had an appointment at my work today and when I arrived, my room had been double booked. I know my time is getting short to the ending of my work, but this conflict was disappointing and thankfully, not catastrophic!
Darrell and I ate lunch out at an outdoor Mexican place near my work with our son Samuel. He is our youngest and it is nice to have time to visit with him now. After lunch we each took our cars and went to different stores to look for a seagull on a stick! lol. Yes, it is a 8 inch tall dust collector and decorator item that is in our airbnb. A couple of days ago, Darrell knocked it over and the head broke. I thought it would be easy to find another one, but it hasn't been. For some reason, beach decor is out for this season of pumpkins! We can comp the owner if we never find one.
This past week I have been looking and ordering from meal delivery services. I ordered Eric and Erin 6 meals and that began a subscription for weekly orders. This particular service: Freshly.com, lets you skip so many weeks of deliveries and then begin again. So I have done that and placed my next order for 6 more meals. In the meantime, I have looked at a bunch of other meal subscriptions. I signed up also to get some meals from Factor. In the coming weeks we will get these meals and try them out. Besides trying these meals, I shopped at the grocery with new eyes for the prepared foods that I could get there that may be similar to us going to a restaurant or to the meal subscription. Basically, I don't cook, someone else does that and we just heat and eat it. It is interesting and different for me as my mind is still going through changes from downsizing a year ago. I have not had my own kitchen and I have downsized how and what I cook now. Be sure to know that I don't do all the cooking. Darrell cooks some too and we are learning a tempo of how much we eat, what we like to eat that is similar and that is different, etc.
Last night we had from Publix grocery: prepared turkey meatloaf, Hormel loaded mashed potatoes for Darrell, brocolli, a sweet potato for me, and we were really full!
More on all of this food topic, cooking less, and buying prepared meals later on.
Pictures are from a day trip we took to see waterfalls at Tullahoma and Manchester, Tennessee. It is a really great place to find a bunch of beautiful falls and nice wooded walks.
