#39 July 31, 2021 Baby Shower, Fresh Corn on the Cob, Friends

My meditation spot. The view from our bedroom widow.
Quinn (10 months) on video call listening to me sing to him.  His Dad said he has taken up to 3 hour naps this week, and thinks it is a growth spurt.
Erin at her baby shower.  Given by a friend at church.  Next to Erin is her Mom, Nan, then her sister, Linda and Linda's daughter, Libby with 2 children, then sister-in-law Beth.
A peak in our fridge with 2 weeks left here.  Many staples and more: eggs, berries, avocado, buttermile, lemons, jelly, salad stuff, sourdough bread, 'Good' cottage cheese, almond milk, bacon, maple syrup, feta and other cheeses, flax chocolate muffins, greek olives, sliced mushrooms, cherries, various left-overs.

Today, it continues to be hot and humid here reaching into the 90's.  Darrell is recovering from a week-long cold and is now able to do a higher intensity workout.  Then he made gluten free pancakes that were delicious!  Dark coffee and a call to his mother at 8am.  At 9:15 I took off for Huntsville to meet my friend who I buy eggs from, and some fresh corn on the cob today.  The corn was delicious as we ate some at dinner.  I went to the Baby Shower and saw friends I had not seen for a long time.  What a lovely time.  The members of Erin's church and her family are so supportive and generous at this time.  There was a lovely brunch buffet.

I went by Eric and Erin's house to leave some corn for them, and got to see their crib and matching dresser that he and his father-in-law were putting together with loads of screws that had to be hand-turned into place!  I drove to get some peaches at a local orchard but didn't have cash or a check to pay with.  I went on further to do some grocery shopping, thinking that I will get cash back and go back by the orchard.  Well, that didn't happen.  I only had credit cards with me, and no debit card.  I have gotten stuck like this only a couple of times.  As soon as I did get back to the house, I found me debit card to put into my wallet.  Now I have to try it out to see if it really works for me because I use it so rarely!

We had a nice dinner of asparagus, brussels sprouts, corn on the cob, chicken (from Publix) baked with pepperoni and cheese.  For dessert I had a flax chocolate muffin topped with a spoon of tahini and maple chocolate syrup.  I have also been hooked on drinking decaf chai this week with a bit of raw sugar stirred in.

As I type this, it is 5:30 on Saturday.  I'm really tired, and have said to Darrell how stressed I got today.  I think part of it is because of the heat.  I'm trying to get in more fluids.
