#30 May 29, 2021 Yellowstone 4 Day Tour Completed
My first time to Yellowstone. We drove first to the north gate in Gardiner, Montana on Tuesday this week. We stayed two nights in a nice airbnb.
On Wednesday we toured Lamar Valley and saw buffalo, antelope, marmots, and a wolf. The weather was cold, and even hailed at one point. Lol.
Thursday we began touring the bubbling springs and geysers. We drove from the north gate to the west gate. The west gate is at West Yellowstone, Montana. We drove 20 miles to Island Park, Idaho and stayed one night. We purchased groceries for Friday dinner through Saturday dinner because we would be in remote Wyoming.
Friday we entered the West gate and exited the East gate going to our tiny house airbnb 30 miles into Wyoming. On Friday we mostly toured geysers including Old Faithful. We saw some beautiful waterfalls too. The drive on the southeast loop toward the east gate follows a giant blue watered lake with snowy mountains as the backdrop! Amazing scenery, and a bit of a harrowing drive through the mountains and down in elevation to the East gate exit. The 30 miles to our airbnb was a scenic drive with red rock mountains and a river.
Saturday we returned to the park and went north viewing Hayden Valley and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We did several walks along the rim and viewed the major waterfalls from different places.
While spending 4 days touring, we walked about 6-8 miles a day. We carried in our own picnics that were so delicious with some of our favorite foods: sourdough bread, avocado, Greek olives, cheese, turkey, dill pickles, blue corn chips, homemade Italian dressing, lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, green onion, hot tea. We ate good and bought ice cream in the park.
