#28 May 15, 2021 On the Road. Nephew, Josh's Sidedoor Bagels. Family visits.
On the road again after our second week staying at my Dad's place. He and his wife, Donna, live in a two bedroom, two bath home. They celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary. On Sundays they meet up with my two sisters, their husbands and sometimes some of their kids and grandkids too. Breakfast is at a restaurant before church worship time, and lunch is often at Dad and Donna's. On our first Sunday Donna made a chicken vegetable soup, a potpie (provided by my brother-in-law John), and sister, Annette brought the salad. We have since been eating some left overs and cooking some too. John keeps them in wild elk meat that we turned into some delicious tacos!
I used my sister's house as a day spa with an exercise room and a sauna. That's been a nice treat! Other things this week have been: Darrell working remotely set up in the sunroom. Me working a few hours by phone and computer. Early morning walks in the 45 degree coolness and early morning DDP Yoga routines. We fix our breakfasts. I got in appointments at the Cargioli Center with my health doctors who happen to be my sister and brother-in-law. I took our truck for service and I got a haircut. Coffee times and lunch times with my sisters. Lunch with my brother and his wife who celebrated their 42nd anniversary.
I have spent time thinking that I miss quilting. Second to all the energy that I have usually spent toward food, cooking, planning and shopping, I have also spent a considerable amount of my lifetime quilting, learning, selling, teaching and enjoying the creative process.
My thoughts of quilting do not surprize me even though I put away my crafting about 6 years ago to place my attention on my EPT business. In downsizing last September, I got rid of all of my sewing items except for a small repair kit. I am deciding now if I really want to do a little hand-sewing to keep my hands busy, or if I am just unwinding my mind from all that has been familiar to me.
This week in Indiana has been a nice time to reconnect with family, linger, and visit through these days. My brother's son, Josh, is baking sourdough bagels, Sidedoor Bagels, in Indianapolis and selling through delivery and pop-ups until he opens his store front in August. We are going to get some breakfast on Saturday from him on our way out of town to Iowa City. Pictures below of really delicious bagels, and surprised when one of my nieces, April, showed up with her family for bagels too!
The drive to Iowa City was an easy 5 hours. Our truck is very comfortable to ride in and drive. For dinner we went to an amazing crepe restaurant, Crepes de Luxe Cafe.
