#17 Saturday February 27th 2021 A "regular" day

Rainy weather today in Madison,  Alabama and 70 degrees! Darrell made delicious wholegrain pancakes with hazelnut granola.  We topped them with blueberries and strawberries and maple syrup.  While talking to Darrell's mother we found out sad news about our nephew Jason's 4th child born yesterday with a heart defect and downs syndrome. Her name is Isabelle. We met Samuel and Ariel for lunch at an outdoor greek restaurant.  Then after lunch, the weather cleared for a couple of hours and we went for a 5 mile walk. We drove about 30 minutes to Elkmont, Alabama and walked on a converted railroad bed towards Athens.  On the way we read markers about the tall train tressel built and destroyed in the 1800s. This was also the site of a civil war battle with the largest casualties for a battle in Alabama,  about 200. We finished our day with a video phone call with grandson Quinn and a game of dominoes.

Getting up at 5:30-6am and taking care of our house sit cockatiels and cats was easier today! Lol. Doing it with two people is a lot easier than trying to do it with one. We got through the animal feedings and had breakfast before 8am today. Around 9am Jeremy and Andrea and Quinn called from Brazil. I always get a big smile with my kids on the phone so I appreciate the attention and time together! Darrell and I had a few animal chores that we attended to. I made two days of fresh food for the birds. Darrell vacuumed the bird areas. We also had to remove the old paper in 4 cages so that it is now fresh for another couple of days. After lunch we went driving around to see some of the local sites. There is a National Wildlife preserve where we took a short walk to a beach view. Jeremy called and talked to us with Quinn. Quinn was talkative and happy that it’s his birthday. He had been to his piano lesson and had a stack of birthday presents on the dining table next to him. They also had plans to go outside to play and to go to a cafe for a piece of celebration cake. Next week is the planned birthday party with friends. We got the report from Andrea and Jeremy about Quinn loving his birthday gifts. She posted pictures of him playing with his new magnetic squares and other shapes.   Sunday. 7. Worship today at Capshaw church in Harvest. One more Sunday after this and then a few days to our trip to England. I met an immigrant at church named Vickie. I got a few bits of information from her. He picked this one for two-three main reasons: 1) it’s 2 weeks long with a lot of down time to relax and disconnect from work. 2) this cruise usually is about 50% guest capacity 3) per day price is always less expensive on repositioning cruises.
