#2 Saturday: November 14, 2020 "Our last of 6 Saturdays in this Airbnb"
Where: Huntsville, Alabama area at a 1 bedroom apartment in a large house occupying our host couple.
It has been a lovely and peaceful stay. The fall weather of Alabama does not disappoint! Here at our airbnb, we are under a lovely canopy of tall trees that are turning fall colors and dropping leaves. We have become comfortable walking the quiet neighborhood with large houses, large yards and long country roads.
Weather today: High of 70 degrees. Sunshine. Slight breeze.
We awoke early and lingered a bit in bed with it being Saturday and no alarm to get us up. Darrell mixed up his favorite gluten-free pancake batter and added a twist with a bowl of cooked oatmeal. The pancakes were delicious! We served them with mixed fresh berries, banana slices, black walnuts, cinnamon and real maple syrup. And a full pot of strong French Roast coffee, our current favorite. I added into the coffee a scoop of caramel flavored coffee too.
Darrell spent some time reading aloud to me from a book he just bought entitled: "How to Retire Happy, Wild and Free." by Zelinsky. He doesn't usually read books to me, but I enjoyed the time and the entertainment. His retirement is coming up in March 2022. He's reading and thinking about it alot!
While Darrell was finding that book a couple of days ago, I found the area of England that has taken my attention for our projected 6 month stay there just after retirement in 2022. I am having a great time exploring Cubria, UK via the internet, and formulating what, where and how I would like to visit there. I am having some conversations with Darrell as I go to get his input and see that we are wanting to do this kind of exploring together. The Hadrian's Wall Path had gotten my interest as a 80 mile walk from coast to coast in Northern England.
We had our lunch by the pool. Darrell made himself a salad, and I warmed some left-over soup. We walked for over an hour through our surrounding neighborhood. For less than an hour we went through the boxes we have our possessions stowed in our truck bed. We thinned them out of more items we are sure that we don't want to store and just carry around with us. We are checking out on Friday morning from this airbnb. With this in mind, we will be packing everything into our truck and car and going on our next segment of Nomad living.
For dinner we went to Big John's BBQ in Harvest and got smoked chicken wings. Darrell got a side of potato salad. We came back to to our apartment and prepared blackened okra, and roasted beets and carrots. Dinner was delicious!
Our evening is reading, maybe a little tv and popcorn.
